2 January 2018	Lebanese atomic energy body supporting Global Goals, says Executive Secretary	During a visit to the Lebanese Atomic Energy Commission (LAEC), the Executive Secretary of ESCWA stressed the importance of their work to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, especially those related to the environment. “We can benefit from the expertise of LAEC in the implementation of common mechanisms and programs related to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, and on the issues of climate change and the impact on nature and people,” said ESCWA Executive Secretary Mohamed Ali Alhakim, speaking during a visit on 27 December.

11 December 2014	Helsinki University Students Visit ESCWA, Get Briefed on its Objectives and Programmes	Beirut, 16 May, 2012 (ESCWA Communications and Information Unit)- A group of Political Studies students from the University of Helsinki visited ESCWA today and explored its objectives and programmes. The students were briefed by Ms. Ahed Sboul, Chief, Conference Services Section on the opportunities provided by the Regional Commission and the challenges it is facing, especially following the drastic change that has occurred in the region since January 2011.

8 April 2019	Regional training workshop on “Reforming and Restructuring the Electricity Sector”	The workshop aims at building the national capacity in the technical, financial and legal fields related to the reforming and restructuring of the electricity sector. Besides, increasing the capability to road a map for sector reform, based on the Egyptian experience in the following areas: Sector restructuring, including analysis of strengths, weaknesses, challenges and opportunities as well as appropriate legislations, The institutional framework of the Electricity Regulatory Agency, in terms of competences, tasks, working mechanisms, relations with concerned Government agencies and the private sector, including licenses for electricity production, energy pricing, accounting and auditing, Economic operation of the sector in terms of improving performance, reducing energy losses, rationalizing consumption, developing technical capabilities, improving customer services, supporting public-private partnerships, enhancing good coordination among relevant sector institutions, Automatic Control Center and the reginal electrical interconnection.

20 May 2015	Study on National Accounts in the ESCWA Region: Sources and Methods	Concerned about the level of implementation of the 1993 System of National Accounts (1993 SNA) in the Western Asia region, and in view of the new challenges represented by the recent adoption of the 2008 System of National Accounts (2008 SNA), ESCWA conducted a survey in 2009 to explore the main obstacles hindering the full implementation by its member countries of the 1993 SNA fifteen years after its adoption.
