11 December 2014	Deputy Executive Secretary Stresses UN-LAS Cooperation and Commitment to Partnership	ESCWA Deputy Executive Secretary Nadim Khoury stressed that the League of Arab States (LAS) and ESCWA are longtime partners in development in the region, adding that since its establishment, the Commission has viewed its partnership with LAS as a critical component in its regional role, both by mandate and in practice. Representing ESCWA at the annual UN-LAS Cooperation Meeting that was held on 10-12 July 2012 at the UN Office in Vienna, Khoury delivered a statement saying that Khalaf placed partnership with LAS in the front and centre of the organizationâ€™s strategy.
4 March 2021	Environmental Dimension of the Sustainable Development Agenda: Within the COVID-19 Pandemic, Can We Still Accelerate Action to Achieve SDG12 in the Arab Region?	The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and the UN Environment Regional Office for West Asia (UNEP-ROWA) organize the “Virtual Regional Consultation on the Environmental Dimension of the Sustainable Development Agenda: Within the COVID-19 Pandemic, Can We Still Accelerate Action to Achieve SDG12 in the Arab Region?” under the umbrella of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment (CAMRE) processes, to implement the resolution 575, that was adopted during its 31th regular session in October 2019.

11 December 2014	9th Session of UN-ESCWA Committee on Transport to Convene Tomorrow	– Under the auspices of Lebanese Minister of Transport and Public Works Mohamad Safadi, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA) will convene the 9th Session of its Committee on Transport on 26-28 February 2008 at Holiday Inn-Dunes, Verdun Str., Beirut.

The need and demand for gender statistics at the national, regional and global level for systematic mainstreaming of a gender perspective within national statistical systems and in the production of gender statistics remain unmet in many areas.
11 December 2014	UN Deputy Secretary General Concludes Visit to Lebanon, Praises Lebanese National Dialogue and Support to Syrian Refugees	United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Jan Eliasson concluded this morning a four-day visit to Lebanon where he participated in the 17th meeting of the UN Regional Coordination Mechanism (RCM) hosted by ESCWA on 10 December 2012 at the UN House, Riad El-Solh Square, Beirut. During his visit, Eliasson met with senior officials and political figures in the country, and made a field visit to the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and its area of operations, as well as to two local centres hosting Syrian refugees.

However, disillusionment and turmoil followed the popular uprisings, along with moves to restore the status quo.
7 March 2019	The 25th RCM and R-UNSDG	The Regional Coordination Mechanism (RCM) and Regional United Nations Sustainable Development Group (R-UNSDG) meeting is held on 7-8 April 2019 in Beirut, with the R-UNSDG segment taking place on 7 April (all day) and the RCM segment on 8 April (afternoon only). The meeting is followed by the 2019 Arab Forum on Sustainable Development between 9 and 11 April.
2 December 2015	League of Arab States to Host 21st Meeting of the UN Regional Coordination Mechanism	United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) Rima Khalaf; UN Assistant Secretary-General, and Chair of the UN Development Group for the Arab Region Sima Bahous; and Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Nabil Elaraby will open the 21st Meeting of the UN Regional Coordination Mechanism (RCM) on the 25th of November, 2015 at 10.00am, at the League’s Cairo based headquarters.
