11 December 2014	ESCWA Visiting Experts Discuss Women, Peace and Security	ESCWA organizes an expert group meeting tomorrow Wednesday 25 June 2014, on the issue of Women, Peace and Security. Participants will review the findings of the regional study entitled “Identification of legislative gaps for the full implementation of Security Council Resolution 1325 (SCR 1325) in the Arab Region” at the UN-House, Riad Solh Avenue, Beirut. The meeting concludes on 26 June 2014.
11 December 2014	E-Seminar on Integrating Social Justice into National Reforms Plans ongoing until 15 August	Over the past few years, many Arab countries have witnessed popular uprisings in which ordinary men and women have demanded freedom, social justice and dignity. Political transitions as a result of these uprisings have brought to the fore a number of short term challenges that will have a decisive impact on the long term prospects of these countries and the region as a whole.

4 March 2021	Environmental Dimension of the Sustainable Development Agenda: Within the COVID-19 Pandemic, Can We Still Accelerate Action to Achieve SDG12 in the Arab Region?	The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and the UN Environment Regional Office for West Asia (UNEP-ROWA) organize the “Virtual Regional Consultation on the Environmental Dimension of the Sustainable Development Agenda: Within the COVID-19 Pandemic, Can We Still Accelerate Action to Achieve SDG12 in the Arab Region?” under the umbrella of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment (CAMRE) processes, to implement the resolution 575, that was adopted during its 31th regular session in October 2019.
11 December 2014	UN-ESCWA Technical Committee Holds its First Meeting	The first meeting of the UN-ESCWA Technical Committee, established pursuant to the decision of UN-ESCWA at its twenty-fourth ministerial session in 2006, opened today. The aim of the meeting, which extends until tomorrow, 17 January 2008, is to discuss preparations for the UN-ESCWA twenty-fifth ministerial session, in addition to ongoing preparations for the strategic framework for the biennium 2010-2011: suggested vision and priorities.
29 July 2019	National Meeting on Women Empowerment and Entrepreneurial Development in the Rural Context: The Role of Renewable Energy	In the framework of the “Regional Initiative for Promoting Small-Scale Renewable Energy Applications in rural areas of the Arab region (REGEND)” project, the UN-Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA) is organizing a National Meeting on “Women Empowerment and Entrepreneurial Development in the Rural Context: The Role of Renewable Energy”. The objective of this meeting is sharing experiences and formulating gender mainstreaming and human rights strategy and action plans to support policy makers, government and local institutions in operationalizing a gender equality and human rights approach in the energy sector in Arab countries.

29 July 2020	Koronivia Joint Work on Agriculture in the Arab Region	The Workshop discussed the Koronivia Joint Work on Agriculture and provided a platform for sharing on regional perspectives and issues related to agriculture and climate change negotiations and highlighted the need for a joint Arab position for a resilient agriculture sector. KJWA represents the unique opportunity to put forward the agriculture sector in a convention that does not look into specific sectoral issues and could be a game changer for the many Arab farmers. LAS, FAO and ESCWA were ready to assist countries in preparing their submissions and joining the KJWA process.

Entities and other civil society players, to discuss “Barriers Hindering Women’s Economic Participation in the ESCWA Region,” in an expert group meeting at the U.N. House, Beirut.
