United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of ESCWA Rima Khalaf headed a ceremony at the UN House in Beirut to present the ESCWA Award on Advancing Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women to four staff members of the commission. The event, which took place on Thursday 8 September 2016, marks the second time the award is granted by ESCWA. The commission has effectively adopted a holistic approach to mainstreaming gender perspectives in its plans, policies and programmes.

ESCWA launches on Tuesday 26 May 2015 its flagship study on "Access to Justice for Women and Girls in the Arab Region: From Ratification to Implementation of International Instruments," in a ceremony that begins at 11 AM at the Business Building of the Lebanese American University (LAU), Room 903. The event is held in partnership with the Institute for Women's Studies in the Arab World (IWSAW). 

The fiscal policy review in the Arab region 2019 provides important insights about overall domestic public resources in the region with a focus on fiscal policy reforms on taxation, and assessment of debt and external debt, foreign direct investments, and overseas development assistance, as an important means of implementation of Agenda 2030.

The Workshop will focus on, inter alia, building national capacities for the implementation of the Framework for Development of Environment Statistics FDES 2013 which was endorsed by the United Nations Statistical Commission at its forty-fourth session in 2013 as the framework for strengthening environment statistics programmes in countries.
 
The Workshop will also provide training on selected topics of environment statistics, in particular on waste and water statistics, as well on environmentally-related SDG indicators and climate change statistics.
