The main aim of this factsheet is to introduce a number of green technologies, innovations and practices that could be adopted and applied easily throughout the Arab region and help bridge the gap between growth and sustainability as they reduce unfavorable effects on the environment, improve productivity, efficiency and operational performance.

The economies of most Arab countries were less affected by the global financial crisis compared to other economies. Several factors contributed to the alleviation of the impact of the crisis on Arab countries, including the minimal dependency of non-oil producing economies, especially financial markets, on the global economy; and the flexibility acquired by major oil-producing countries from their cash reserves. This issue of the Annual Review examines the impact of the global financial crisis on the Arab economies.

Under the local and global circumstances, a three-day workshop was organized on the “Management of Public Institutions in Crisis Situations”. This document is the participant’s file, which included the program of meetings and details on all the specific themes of the workshop. The meetings of the first day examined several topics such as the development of management methodologies, the globalization and the global transformations, the emerging trends of the public management (ESCWA region) and the strategy and principles of a good governance.

The policy brief analyses the impact of the intersection between conflicts and climate change on gender imbalances in the Arab region.
