ESCWA Celebrates Its First Gender Equality Award |
The first ESCWA Award on Advancing Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women was presented by Ms. Rima Khalaf, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of ESCWA, to three staff members. The award is delivered for the first time and constitutes a milestone for ESCWA, which is adopting a holistic approach to mainstreaming gender perspectives in its plans, policies and programmes. |

World Economic Situation and Prospects 2015 |
On 19 January 2015, a press conference was held by ESCWA to launch the World Economic Situation and Prospects 2015 (WESP) report from the UN House in Beirut. WESP is produced at the beginning of each year by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN/DESA), the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the five UN regional commissions, ESCWA included, and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). |
