11 December 2014	Negotiations on Climate Change	ESCWA convened a three-day Regional Training Workshop on Capacity Development for Climate Change Negotiations for the Arab Countries in collaboration with the League of Arab States (LAS) between 26 and 28 May 2014 in Amman. The workshop was the second in a series of workshops on building the capacity of Arab countries on climate change negotiations.
20 April 2017	Bolstering Sudanese data Systems, Economic Modeling and Decision-Making	Under the framework of its efforts to support policies, United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) took part on 28 and 29 March 2017 in a workshop on Data Systems, Supporting Decision-making, and Economic Modeling, in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum. The workshop delved into the key components of the project through discussion round tables involving a large number of academicians and experts in Sudan as well as representatives of the Presidency, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research.

22 February 2017	Workshop on National Technology Transfer Networks in Grand Serail	Under the auspices of Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri , ESCWA, the Lebanese National Council for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the Office of the Minister of State for Administrative Reform (OMSAR) organize a workshop on "National Technology Transfer Networks" tomorrow Thursday 23 February 2017, ath the Grand Serail. The workshop opens at 10:00 AM with speeches for the organizers. High-level officials from Lebanon and experts from the arab region are expected to attend and run the different roundtables of the workshop throughout the day.
14 November 2017	Executive Secretary Receives Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon	Beirut, 14 November 2017 (Communication and Information Unit) – United Nations Under-Secretary-General and ESCWA Executive Secretary Mohamed Ali Al-Hakim received on 13 November 2017 Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon Wang Kejian at the UN House in Beirut. Both officials discussed enhancing cooperation between ESCWA and China. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Executive Secretary for Program Support Khawla Mattar and Special Assistant to the Executive Secretary Mohanad Al-Musawi.
31 August 2017	Deputy Transport Minister of Yemen Visits ESCWA, Meets Executive Secretary	ESCWA Executive Secretary Mohamed Ali Alhakim received on 29 August 2017 Deputy Minister of Transportation of Yemen Nasser Al Sherif at the UN House. The two sides discussed cooperation in the field of transportation between ESCWA and Yemen and ESCWA’s contribution to the government of Yemen in terms of technical cooperation. The ambassador of Yemen to Lebanon Abdullah Abed AlKarim AlDeis and ESCWA Regional Adviser on Transport and Logistics Yarob Badr also attended the meeting.
11 December 2014	UN Special Middle East Coordinator Visits Lebanon	Beirut, 28 April 2008 (United Nations Information Centre)-- The United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East peace process, Mr. Robert H. Serry, began today his first official visit to Lebanon as part of ongoing regional consultations. Lebanon is one of the countries in his area of responsibility for the Middle East peace process.
11 December 2014	Contestants of Star Academy 2006 Cast Plea for Arab Youth	Winner of the 2006 Star Academy Joseph Attieh will address a large audience made up of prominent political, diplomatic, media and cultural figures at the UNESCO Palace, Beirut, tomorrow. He will address his plea to Arab officials on behalf of his colleagues Hanaa El Idrissi (Morocco), Hani Hussein and Rakiya Ibrahim (Egypt), Joseph Attieh and Maya Nehme (Lebanon), Khalifa Salem (UAE), Fadi Andraos (Palestine), Chayma Hilaly and Wajdi Lakhal (Tunis).
7 August 2017	Executive Secretary receives Head of AFICS	Beirut, 7 August 2017 (Communication and Information Unit) -- United Nations Under-Secretary-General and ESCWA Executive Secretary, Mohamed Ali Alhakim, received on Friday 4 August 2017, President of the Association for Former Civil Servants (AFICS) in Lebanon, Georges Abu Jaoude, at the UN House in Beirut. 11 December 2014	LBCI Condemns Attacks Over Transmission Facilities	UNESCWA Executive Secretary Mervat Tallawy today received a letter by the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation International (LBCI) condemning the Israeli attack over the station’s transmission sites, which took place on 21 July 2006, and resulted in “killing one of its employees manning one of these facilities and injuring 2 others.” The Corporation asked Tallawy to transmit its condemnation to international references.
