5 December 2014	Regional workshop on EE investment projects pipeline	Call for Project Proposals for the ESCWA Energy Efficiency Investment Projects Pipeline: The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), in cooperation with the other UN Regional Commissions, is implementing a UN Development Account project on “Promoting Energy Efficiency Investments for Climate Change Mitigation and Sustainable Development”. The project’s objective is capacity building for development of energy efficiency (EE) investment projects.
5 December 2014	Regional Training Workshop on Trade Facilitation, Infrastructure and Trade Cost	ESCWA organizes in cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank “Regional training Workshop on Trade Facilitation, Infrastructure and Trade Costs Policies in ESCWA region” at the Movenpick Deira Hotel, Dubai, during 8-9 April 2013. The workshop will offer the countries in the region an opportunity to discuss the concept of trade costs, methods of measurement and policy priorities for reducing this cost. The workshop will aim at building technical capacity of nationals dealing with behind the border trade facilitation with a view to enhancing trade flows and promoting growth.
1 December 2017	Expert Group Meeting to Review a Draft Study on “Addressing Barriers to Women’s Economic Participation in the ESCWA Region”	The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) held an expert group meeting to review a draft study on “Addressing Barriers to Women’s Economic Participation in the ESCWA Region”, at the United Nations House, Beirut, on 26 and 27 June 2012. The meeting reviewed the draft study and solicited feedback from experts from the region. The meeting also included two presentations, one on the efforts of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to promote gender equality and another on gender in the workplace.
5 December 2014	RICCAR Vulnerability Assessment Task Force on Adaptive Capacity Indicators Meeting	Within the framework of the RICCAR, ESCWA and ACSAD organized the RICCAR/ACCWaM Vulnerability Assessment Task Force on Adaptive Capacity Indicators Meeting from 22-23 October 2014 in Beirut at the UN House. This Task Force is basically a small ad hoc working group that was established to technically review, with regional experts, the adaptive capacity indicators associated with socio-economic aspects of that component and the related maps that will support the preparation of the vulnerability assessment at the Arab regional level.
