Within the framework of the RICCAR, ESCWA and ACSAD organized the RICCAR/ACCWaM Vulnerability Assessment Task Force on Adaptive Capacity Indicators Meeting from 22-23 October 2014 in Beirut at the UN House. This Task Force is basically a small ad hoc working group that was established to technically review, with regional experts, the adaptive capacity indicators associated with socio-economic aspects of that component and the related maps that will support the preparation of the vulnerability assessment at the Arab regional level. 

The Vulnerability Assessment Task Force on Adaptive Capacity Indicators discussed indicators related to:

  1. Knowledge and Awareness;
  2. Technology;
  3. Infrastructure;
  4. Institutions;
  5. Economic Resources;
  6. Equity.

This Task Force also reviewed the drafted regional maps on the indicators related to:

  • Educational expenditures;
  • Technological development;
  • Innovation;
  • Access to electricity;
  • Number of hospital beds per 1000 inhabitants;
  • Access to improved water;
  • Access to improved sanitation;
  • Governance indicators;
  • GDP per capita;
  • HDI;
  • Age dependency ratio;
  • Unemployment (disaggregated by gender);
    Gender Inequality Index (GII).
