26 March 2018	National Consultation on Costing Violence Against Women in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia	The ESCWA Centre for Women will be facilitating a two-day national consultation to discuss elements of an operational model for estimating the cost of violence against women in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The consultation which will be held in Riyadh on 27-28 March 2018 is considered one of the steps needed in the process of estimating the cost of violence against women and aims to:

5 December 2014	Expert Group Meeting on the Impact of the Crisis in Syria on MDGs and Launch of the "Cost of conflict in Syria: The impact on the economy and MDG goals"	The report was prepared jointly by ESCWA staff and experts working on UN-ESCWA’s National Agenda for the Future of Syria Programme. The event will commence with a presentation of the report, which is divided into the following three sections: - The economic impact of the conflict in Syria; - The impact on the Millennium Development Goals in Syria; - Future expectations under the continued conflict The presentation will be followed by a discussion by a group of economists and development experts. 5 December 2014	Official Inauguration for the Renewable Energy Center in relation to DA Project: "Capacity-building on Climate Change Mitigation	The Energy Section at SDPD has been implementing a DA project on "Capacity Building on Climate Change Mitigation for Poverty Alleviate in Western Asia", since March 2011. This project aims at encouraging the use of Renewable Energy (RE) applications in poor rural areas in some ESCWA member countries (where most people mainly rely upon traditional biomass to meet their energy needs) through raising awareness and building the capacity of concerned stakeholders to benefit from RE technologies for the economic and social development of these areas.
7 December 2020	Observance of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, 2020	A virtual official ceremony and a webinar held in observance of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People (1 December 2020) As in every year, ESCWA observed the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People to raise awareness about the plight of the Palestinian people and mobilize support to attain their inalienable rights. In this context, on 1 December 2020, two events were held for the 2020 observance:
12 January 2018	Single Window for Iraq	UN ESCWA is organizing a training workshop on single window for Iraqi officials. This workshop aims to help Iraqi officials to implement single window system
5 December 2014	Consultative Meeting on Guidelines for Producing Statistics on Violence against Women	A consultative meeting to review the draft guidelines for Producing Statistics on Violence against Women is organized by the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) in Cooperation with the Statistics Division at the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) at the UN House (Committee Room I) in Beirut, Lebanon, from 8-10 November 2011.
19 October 2018	5th meeting of the Inter-Agency and Expert Group on Gender Statistics (IAEG-GS) in the Arab Countries	The Gender Statistics meetings brings together experts from the National Statistical Offices, Women Machineries, regional and international experts to review and discuss development of gender statistics for evidence-based policy making.
