الفترة الزمنية التي من المتوقّع خلالها أن يبقى الأصل صالحاً للاستخدام. بالنسبة إلى الموارد الطبيعية، نحصل غالبًا على هذه الفترة الزمنية بواسطة عمليّة حسابية يقسم فيها الرصيد على معدل الاستخراج السنوي (الصافي).
