The policy brief examines existing institutions in the Arab region and their role in holding various actors including the State and third parties accountable for discrimination against women in the public and private spheres. It examines how State systems and institutions contribute to provide further protection to women. It also provides a broad assessment of gender equality in the region, looking at areas such as education, economic and political participation as well as equality in front of the law. The policy brief brings in a set of policy recommendations targeting decision makers in Arab countries.
