This bulletin sheds light on the social challenges that result from urban divisions in the Arab region. It documents spatial interventions carried out in several ESCWA member countries in order to promote balanced urban development. It also offers an overview of related activities undertaken by ESCWA, including expert group meetings, publications and the regional follow-up to the international debate on the challenges of accelerated urbanization.
