It highlights major demographic trends in the Arab region and relates them to the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development, adopted in 1994. It outlines major challenges in the region to achieve sustainable development as well as progress made with respect to poverty alleviation, women, youth, older persons, persons with disabilities, sexual and reproductive health, mobility and environmental sustainability, and enabling environment. It concludes with showing the way forward and summarizing the key messages from the Arab regional review.
