This policy brief provides an overview of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing (MIPAA) and its linkages to the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.  It highlights MIPAA’s relevance to countries of the Arab region by providing a snapshot of demographic ageing in the region and of the socio-economic situation of older persons.  An account of the key findings and recommendations emanating from the regional meeting on the third review and appraisal of MIPAA in Arab countries is provided, along with the mandated timeline for the fourth MIPAA review and appraisal process.
