ESCWA’ Sustainable Development Policies Division (SDPD) organized a consolidation Workshop on “Sustainable Energy Access for Rural areas” on 22 September 2016, within the context of the 7th Beirut Energy Forum, held on 21 – 23 September 2016. Participants included energy experts, green technology specialists, rural development practitioners, energy policy developers, among others. The experts included representatives of the public and private sectors in the region, financial institutions, civil society organizations and other UN organizations.
 
As a follow up on the implementation of the 10th session recommendations of ESCWA’ Committee on Energy (CoE) meeting, previously held in March 2015, a meeting for the focal points of the member countries in the COE was held on 22 September 2016, directly after the above mentioned Workshop.
