Arabic script on the internet will be the main subject of an expert group meeting (EGM) organized by the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA), in cooperation with "Afilias" Global Registry Services and ".org" Public Interest Registry, and hosted by the Egyptian National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) on 8-10 November 2008 in Intercontinental Citystars Hotel, Cairo, Egypt.

Successful E-Government Implementation is on the table at the UN House in a workshop on "Electronic/mobile Government in Arab States: Building capacity in knowledge management through partnership". The meeting is held on 18-20 November 2008 at the UN House, Riad Solh Avenue to tackle the way to successfully implement the electronic-mobile government issue in the Arab World.

UN-ESCWA holds a Consultative Workshop on the "National Profiles of the Information Society In Western Asia", during 26-27 November 2008 at the UN House, Riad el-Solh Square, Beirut.

The meeting opens at 09:300 AM on Wednesday 26 November 2008, and is attended by a selected group of ICT experts from member countries who will discuss the content and preparation process of the national profiles of the information society, and the subsequent update of the national profiles

In the presence of representatives of member countries, international, regional and civil organizations, as well as experts concerned with water resources, UN-ESCWA opened today the eighth session of its Committee on Water Resources, which convenes until Friday 19 December 2008. AlDafa Addressing the meeting, Executive Secretary Bader Omar AlDafa said in his opening statement “the issue of water resources stands among crucial ones in the region. It is one of the priorities of UN-ESCWA work.
