On the occasion of the 12th Regional Coordination Mechanism Meeting (RCM), UN-ESCWA Executive Secretary, Bader Omar AlDafa, launched on Sunday a report on “Gender in the Millennium Development Goals: Information guide for Arab Millennium Development Goals reports” at the UN House, Beirut in the presence of representatives of UN regional organizations and media institutions.

Delegates from across the Arab Mashreq will gather to discuss the establishment of a regional road safety partnership based on a proposal from the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN ESCWA), Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) and Shell. The workshop on Establishing the Arab Mashreq Road Safety Partnership, will take place at the Sheraton Hotel, Doha, Qatar on 21 - 22 October, 2008

Arabic script on the internet will be the main subject of an expert group meeting (EGM) organized by the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA), in cooperation with "Afilias" Global Registry Services and ".org" Public Interest Registry, and hosted by the Egyptian National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) on 8-10 November 2008 in Intercontinental Citystars Hotel, Cairo, Egypt.

Successful E-Government Implementation is on the table at the UN House in a workshop on "Electronic/mobile Government in Arab States: Building capacity in knowledge management through partnership". The meeting is held on 18-20 November 2008 at the UN House, Riad Solh Avenue to tackle the way to successfully implement the electronic-mobile government issue in the Arab World.
