Beirut, 11 November 2010 (UN Information Service) — ESCWA today launched at the UN House in Beirut a global report on “Combating Poverty and Inequality: Structural Change, Social Policy and Politics,” by the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD).

Beirut, 12 November 2010 (UN Information Service) — ESCWA Friday concluded its 14th Regional Coordination Mechanism (RCM) meeting for all UN agencies operating in the Arab region, which was held at the UN House in Beirut 11-12 November.

ESCWA and the UN Information Centre in Beirut (UNIC-Beirut) today launched the 2011 World Economic Situation and Prospects report, published yearly by the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

From the UN headquarters in Beirut, and in cooperation with Lebanese actress Carmen Lebbos, ESCWA launched on 17 May the “Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020.” The event was held the auspices and in the presence of caretaker Lebanese Minister of Interior Ziad Baroud, and a slew of diplomat
