Microfund for Women was initiated as a pilot Group Guaranteed Lending Program in Amman by Save the Children in 1994 with the goal of empowering women entrepreneurs to become income earners and decision makers in their homes and communities. In 1999, the program became fully independent and was transferred to a non-profit limited liability company registered under the Ministry of Industry and Trade as Microfund for Women.
