Lebanese Economy and Trade Minister to Open UNESCWA Meeting on Monday |
Lebanese Minister of Economy and Trade Sami Haddad will open the UNESCWA Regional Workshop on Trade Facilitation for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) at 10:00am on 6 November 2006 at the UN House, Beirut. Participants in the meeting, which will continue until 7 November, include representatives of small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) in the region. This activity focuses on trade facilitation for the private sector and is part of the work programme of UNESCWA. A regional workshop was held in the same framework last June for trade negotiators on trade facilitation. |

As the United Nations enters its seventieth year, the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) embarks on its fifth decade of work in the Arab region. Our role at ESCWA, however challenging in these tragic times, is to keep the long-term goals of development, integration and social justice alive and to create a prosperous and just future for all. The region has been shaken to the core. The casualty toll continues to mount and millions have been displaced and exiled. |

Under the patronage of Minister of Transport in Saudi Arabia Joubara Bin Eid Al-Sraysri, UN-ESCWA, in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, is holding a national workshop on International Goods Transport Facilitation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that will take place at the Radisson SAS Hotel, Riyadh, on 18 December 2006. This meeting is part of the United Nations Development Account project “Capacity-Building through Cooperation in Developing Inter-Regional Land and Land-Cum-Sea Transport Linkages”. |
