United Nations Under-Secretary-General and ESCWA Executive Secretary Mohamed Ali Alhakim called for enhancing cooperation between the Lebanese Atomic Energy Commission (LAEC), affiliated to the Lebanese National Council for Scientific Research (CNRS), in many projects “as we can benefit from the expertise of the Commission in the implementation of common mechanisms and programs related to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and to the issues of climate change and their impact on nature and people.”
 



Engaging in regional and global processes, enhancing policy coherence, and promoting coordination on priority issues were the focus areas of the 18th meeting of the Regional Coordination Mechanism (RCM) held on 15 March 2013 at the UN House in Beirut. The meeting, which was attended by regional directors and representatives of UN agencies and regional partners, was inaugurated by ESCWA Executive Secretary Rima Khalaf, and League of Arab States (LAS) Assistant Secretary-General for Social Affairs Faeqa Saeed Alsaleh.

ETC in cooperation with the Arab Organization for Industrial Development and Mining (AIDMO), the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Sudan, the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils, the African City of Technology and others, will hold a regional workshop on "Governance of Science Parks and Technological Incubators" on 22-24 October 2018 in Khartoum, Sudan.
