Eighth Scientific Agricultural Conference (ESAC-2018) |
ESCWA Technology Center is supporting the Eighth Scientific Agricultural Conference (ESAC-2018) entitled "Agricultural Challenges and Sustainable Development" organized by the Faculty of Agriculture at Mutah University, Karak, Jordan during the period 15-17 October 2018. The ESAC-2018 will be held in collaboration with ESCWA Technology Center (ETC), the Agricultural Faculties at the Jordanian Universities, the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Center for Agricultural Research and Extension, and Ministry of Water and Irrigation and FAO. The conference is expected to attract professionals, academics, experts in the fields of agriculture, food, water and environment, and farmers. During the conference, ETC and ICARDA are organizing a dedicated session on “Technology and Innovation for Agricultural Development”. |

Progress in Achievement of the Millennium Development Goals in the ESCWA Region: A Gender Lens |
Since their adoption in 2000, gender experts criticized the MDG for their failure to adequately include a gender component in their goals, targets and indicators. In addition to reducing gender equality to one goal, the target of goal 3 on promoting gender equality and empowering women, is limited to eliminating gender disparity in primary education, preferably by 2005, and all levels of education by 2015. |
