26 February 2015	Democratic Governance in Iraq on the Agenda of ESCWA	The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) will hold a workshop on 'Capacity-Building for Partnership in Democratic governance in Iraq' in partnership with the Iraqi Business Council (IBC) and in cooperation with the League of Arab States (LAS) and the Arab Gulf Fund for Development (AGFUND) from 23 to 25 January 2015, in the Grand Millennium Hotel, Amman. The opening of the workshop will be attended by Ambassador of Iraq to Jordan Jawad Hadi Abbas.

11 December 2014	UN-ESCWA Meeting to Tackle Open Source Software Solutions for the Public Sector	An Expert Group Meeting on Open Source Software Solutions for the Public Sector in the Arab Region is being organized by UN-ESCWA and the Information and Communication Technology for Development in the Arab Region (ICTDAR) – a regional programme of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in collaboration with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) from 19 to 21 December 2006.
11 December 2014	Cairo Hosts Tenth Session of ESCWA Statistical Committee	The Tenth Session of ESCWA Statistical Committee was hosted on 30 and 31 January 2013 at the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) in the Egyptian Capital Cairo. The Committee gathered heads of national statistical offices in the ESCWA region, and concerned parties and experts from local and international organizations.
12 February 2020	Regulatory, Institutional and Financial Frameworks Needed to Promote Small-Scale Renewable Energy Technologies and Applications for Rural Development	Within the framework of the “Regional Initiative for Promoting Small-Scale Renewable Energy Applications in Rural Areas of the Arab Region (REGEND)” Project, the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), in partnership with the National Agency for Energy Conservation (ANME) and the General Commission for Regional Development (CGDR), is organizing a National Policy Workshop on “Regulatory, Institutional and Financial Frameworks Needed to Promote Small-Scale Renewable Energy Technologies and Applications for Rural Development”. The workshop will support the development of a policy case study for Tunisia and provide guidelines to conceptualize REGEND’s Policy Toolkit as Regional Strategic Guidelines to improve the enabling environment for the private sector and women entrepreneurs to invest in income-generating activities by increasing the use of small-scale RE technologies and applications in productive activities in the rural areas.
