2 April 2021	Capacity-Building Workshop on “The Use of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Technologies and Applications for Rural Development in Lebanon”	Within the framework of the “Regional Initiative for Promoting Small-Scale Renewable Energy Applications in Rural Areas of the Arab Region (REGEND)” Project, the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), in partnership with the Municipality of Chaqdouf, is organizing a capacity-building workshop on “The Use of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Technologies and Applications for Rural Development in Lebanon”. This workshop will introduce rural women to renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies and applications in rural areas and will raise their awareness on how they can enable and promote sustainable rural development, gender and youth empowerment, and economic benefits through their proper integration with productive activities.

The presence of the Commission in Lebanon has rendered it the general UN Headquarters in the Arab region and the most suitable setting for intellectual interaction.

This workshop will build the scientific and technical capacities of REGEND’s beneficiaries, on good food packaging, labeling, and manufacturing practices through a simplified scientific and distinctive approach integrating lectures, exercises, and practical training.

31 July 2019	ESCWA signs technical cooperation framework with Yemen	Beirut, 31 July 2019 (ESCWA)--United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) Rola Dashti today said the most important step in the post-conflict phase in Yemen is to engage citizens in development process at socio-economic and institutional levels. In this context, she stressed the need to develop a clear road map to address the development challenges that Yemen is facing.
11 December 2014	East and West Embrace in ESCWA Concert	Music lovers flocked to the Maronite Cathedral of St. George in Downtown Beirut, Lebanon, last week to attend a special classical concert held on the occasion of the 35th Anniversary of ESCWA.
