Beirut, 1 December 2011 (UN Information Service) — ESCWA Executive Secretariat opened today the Sixth Meeting of the Technical Committee at the UN House in Beirut. The meeting will conclude tomorrow Friday 2 December.

26 June 2013 saw the mutual signing at LAS headquarters in Cairo, of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the Executive Secretary of ESCWA, Ms. Rima Khalaf, and the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States (LAS), Mr. Nabil Al Arabi. The new MoU aims to develop and build on decades of cooperation between ESCWA and LAS, which has grown progressively since the signing of the original MoU between the two organizations in 1983.

This Bulletin presents data and statistical indicators on external trade in goods of ESCWA region. Data are until 2014 and were drawn from different sources.

Beirut-Riyadh, 30 November 2020--Yemen has been struggling for decades with multiple challenges, including a fragile infrastructure, and high rates of poverty and food insecurity, which have placed it among the world’s least developed countries. This situation has prompted international and regional organizations concerned with development in Yemen to work together on formulating development programmes to address these challenges, including through studies, research and projects aimed at combating poverty and achieving the internationally agreed development goals.
