Taskforce Meeting on 2010 Population and Housing Censuses |
At its six session held in October 2004, the Statistical Commission called on ESCWA to form a regional taskforce to coordinate efforts in relation to the planning of next round of population and housing censuses. Later, the United Nations Statistics Division adopted in March 2005 a resolution on the 2010 World Population and Housing Census Programme, to be implemented from 2005 to 2014. Workshop on Legal Informatics - An Arabic Perspective |
The workshop emphasizes the essential role of legal informatics in enhancing access and dissemination of legal information, in particular the information within the possession of governments and necessary for informing the public as to their rights and obligations, or that would assist them in doing so. The objective of the workshop is to create an ICT enabling environment to facilitate the administration of justice and harmonization among different judicial and legislative codes at the national level, as well as at the regional and international levels. |

Management Skills Training for Iraqi Ministry of Justice Officials |
Nineteen senior civil servants from the Iraqi Ministry of Justice have completed one management training course in Beirut. This training that was planned alongside a training implemented late 2005 for the Ministry of Human Rights forms a component of the Danish Government funded UNDP project “Return to Law and Promotion of Human Rights”. The training was organized by UNESCWA in coordination with the OHCHR. The training program focused on management topics and was complimented by sessions on transitional justice and human rights. |
