15 November 2020	Regional Workshop on Poverty Measurement and Monitoring in the Era of Big Data	The workshop explores recent developments in statistical methodologies and new data sources for measuring and monitoring poverty at various levels and dimensions. Specifically, the workshop aims to provide guidance to the NSOs on new knowledge and methodologies to measure and monitor SDGs and Agenda 2030 and identify opportunities, challenges and limitations of using big data for official poverty measurement in low and middle income countries. The workshop will also explore the potential of high frequency surveys to monitor poverty over time and across small areas, particularly targeting vulnerable groups such as refugee populations, and identify future research needs in statistical methodologies and the use of new data sources for living conditions and poverty indicators. Ultimately the workshop will help to achieve a common and improved understanding of new knowledge, methodologies and data sources that would contribute to monitoring poverty over time and across small areas and improving the measurement of some living conditions and poverty indicators for Goals 1 and 10.
1 April 2021	First ESCWA-LAS Joint Workshop on Developing the Arab Digital Agenda / ICT Strategy A standalone Side-Event in parallel to the 32nd Arab Working Group on the Arab ICT strategy	The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and the League of Arab States (LAS) are organizing the First Joint Workshop on Developing the Arab Digital Agenda / ICT Strategy (ADAICTS) as a standalone Side-Event in parallel to the 32^nd Arab Working Group on the Arab ICT strategy. The event is being held within the framework of the strategic cooperation between the two organizations and in the context of the related track of Advancing Digital Cooperation and Development Arab States Action Programme, launched by ESCWA in 2020. The workshop aims to kick-off the process for shaping and developing the ADAICTS as a joint regional public good and to agree on the way forward with prospective partners. The participatory process will lead to the elaboration of the Unified Arab Digital Agenda for the ten coming years, expected to be finalized by the end of 2021, endorsed by the Arab ICT ministers and launched soon after.

11 December 2014	New ESCWA Report Advocates Integration through Culture and the Arts Art, literature, music and film hold the key to Arab unity and renaissance	On 25 February 2014, UN Undersecretary General and ESCWA Executive Secretary Rima Khalaf launched from Tunis a remarkable report entitled “Arab Integration: A 21st Century Development Imperative” with the participation of Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki, former Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati and a crowd of political, economic, intellectual and public figures. Media representatives who took part in the ceremony received a press kit, which we will re-publish over five parts, in view of the importance of the issues the Report addresses.
