Oil producers on a Roll as Prices Surge Lebanese-Israeli Conflict Undermined Growth Prospects, UN Report says |
Western Asian countries maintained their fourth consecutive year of robust growth as a result of rising oil prices in the first half of 2006. But the surge in oil export revenues will temper in 2007, and growth in the ESCWA region (excluding Egypt) will likely moderate from 5.8 percent in 2006 to 4.9 percent in 2007, according to a new UN report. |

ESCWA strongly condemns Israel’s attacks on UNRWA schools in Gaza: another episode in a pattern of international law violations |
The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) joined the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in condemning in the strongest terms the shelling of the Jabalia Elementary Girls’ School on Wednesday, 30 July 2014. The targeted UNRWA-run school was a United Nations-designated shelter in Gaza and a safe haven for 3,300 civilians who had sought refuge there under the banner of the United Nations and international law. |

في إطار برامج الإسكوا لتعزيز المنافسة في السوق لدعم الشركات الصغرى والصغيرة والمتوسطة الحجم في المنطقة العربية، نظمت الأونكتاد والإسكوا حوارًا إقليميًا افتراضيًا في 8 أبريل 2021 بالتعاون مع هيئة المنافسة المصرية. حملت الندوة الافتراضية عنوان "الحوار الإقليمي لدور سياسة المنافسة في دعم التعافي الاقتصادي للمؤسسات الصغرى والصغيرة والمتوسطة في مرحلة ما بعد أزمة كوفيد-19."
جمع الحوار الإقليمي بين صانعي السياسات في العالم العربي وسلطات المنافسة وممثلي المشروعات الصغرى والصغيرة والمتوسطة لمناقشة كيف يمكن لسياسة المنافسة أن تدعم تعافي المشروعات الصغرى والصغيرة والمتوسطة. قدمت الأونكتاد التوصيات المتعلقة بالسياسات الواردة في تقريرها الذي صدر مؤخرًا عن العلاقة بين سياسة المنافسة ووصول الشركات الصغرى والصغيرة والمتوسطة إلى الأسواق. وعرضت "إسكوا" أعمالها حول تأثير كوفيد-19 على اقتصادات المنطقة العربية. تبادلت الدول العربية وسلطات المنافسة خبراتها في التعامل مع تحديات المنافسة في السوق التي ظهرت أثناء الوباء وناقشت تدابير التخفيف المتخذة للمساعدة في تقليل خسائر المشروعات الصغرى والصغيرة والمتوسطة الحجم. أيضًا، شارك المتحدثون في جلسة حوار تناولت مجموعة متنوعة من الموضوعات المتعلقة بهيكلية السوق وقانون وسياسة المنافسة وتدابير الدعم المتخذة من الدول خلال وما بعد جائحة كوفيد-19. |
