Special thanks to our partners at the UNFCCC and the Standing Committee on Finance, the Islamic Development Bank and the Union for the Mediterranean, and to the Governments of Norway and Australia for their generous contributions to this Forum, as well as to the Government of Lebanon for its continual support.
5 December 2014	Applying IWRM Principles in Managing Shared Water Resources: Towards a Regional Vision	The international community has been seeking to establish legal frameworks for improving the management of shared water resources. For instance, the Convention on the Law of the Non-Navigational Uses of International Watercourses, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in May 1997 (but not yet in force), and the draft articles of the Law of Transboundary Aquifers, which were reviewed by the UNGA in December 2008, propose legal frameworks for managing shared surface and groundwater resources based on international water law principles.

24 February 2021	Regional Review of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration in the Arab Region: Multi-stakeholder Consultation	IOM, ESCWA, and the League of Arab States, in collaboration with the members of the Regional United Nations Network on Migration in the Arab Region, and with the support of the Secretariat of the United Nations Network on Migration, are coordinating the GCM regional review process in the Arab region. The regional review process is composed of several components to ensure the widest and most effective engagement of all relevant stakeholders.
26 November 2018	The Drivers and Impact of Conflict on the Sustainable Development Agenda in the Arab Region: A snapshot of human, socioeconomic and structural impacts with a focus on regional and cross-border effects	This paper will provide an overview of the short- and long-term impacts of conflict in the region and identify the interconnections and self-reinforcing cycles amongst these. The paper will link this dire situation in many Arab States with implications for reaching the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Coherent and well-financed development planning and policy implementation is vital to the success of the SDGs. This paper aims to monitor the impact of conflict on the development of the Arab countries, and how these conflicts affect the successful implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
1 October 2015	Regional Workshop on Assessment of Achievements and Future Perspectives for the Sustainability of the Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders in the ESCWA Region	Within the project Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders in the ESCWA Region (AIGLE), ESCWA (the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia) held the Workshop on Assessment of Achievements and Future Perspectives for the Sustainability of the Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders in the ESCWA Region (AIGLE), in Beirut, from 21 to 22 December 2015. The Workshop aimed to discuss the achievements made within the AIGLE Academy project and
25 November 2014	About ESCWA	The five regional commissions were created by the United Nations in order to fulfil the economic and social goals set out in the Charter by promoting cooperation and integration between countries in each region of the world. Those commissions are: the Economic Commission for Europe (ECE, established in 1947); the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP, 1947); the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC, 1948); the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA, 1958); and the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA, 1973).
