Capacity Building Workshop on Generating Productive and Inclusive Employment for Lebanon |
The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor (MoL) in Lebanon, is organizing a two day capacity-building workshop on "Generating Productive and Inclusive Employment for Lebanon". The purpose of this workshop is to provide an updated overview of the Lebanese labor market based on the labor market supply and demand. |

United Nations Under-Secretary-General and ESCWA Executive Secretary Mohamed Ali Alhakim received on Tuesday 05 September 2017 Chief Executive Officer of the Centre for Arab Unity Studies (CAUS) Khair El-Din Haseeb and the Centre’s Director General Luna Abu Swaireh at the UN House in Beirut. Following the meeting Abu Swaireh said discussions focused on partnership between ESCWA and the Centre in the fields of Economy, Development and Research. |

Workshop on Planning for Population and Housing Censuses By Using Technology in selected Arab countries |
The workshop aims at developing the comprehensive census framework for countries in difficult circumstances (Iraq, Yemen, Syria, Sudan and Libya), including the plan of action, timetable, estimated budget, census structure, use of geographic information systems in various census stages, data collection using tablets and modern means, and to benefit from the experiences of countries which have successfully conducted censuses using such technologies. |

UAE Ambassador Pays Farewell Visit to UN-ESCWA |
UN-ESCWA Executive-Secretary, Bader Omar AlDafa, on Monday 20 October received the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Lebanon, Muhammad Soueidi, who paid a farewell visit to UN-ESCWA. Both parties discussed UN-ESCWA activities, and cooperation between the Commission and UAE.

Abbas Zaki Pays Farewell Visit to ESCWA |
ESCWA Executive Secretary Bader AlDafa today received the Ambassador of Palestine and Representative of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in Lebanon, Abbas Zaki, who paid a farewell visit to the Commission. AlDafa commended Zaki's efforts to strengthen relations with international organizations and to effectively represent his country's issues. He also wished him luck in his coming missions.
