During 2010-2011, the ESCWA has focused its work on emphasizing to member countries the importance of planning national policies for youth under the framework of the World Programme of Action for Youth. This booklet sheds the light on the youth statistical profiles and national strategies in each member country and shows success stories achieved in member countries in the area of launching and implementing national programmes and projects for youth development and empowerment. |

ESCWA Study on Air Transport |
This study was carried out at the request of ESCWA member countries through the Committee on Transport of the Commission. It reviews the ways in which the region is responding to the liberalization and commercialization of air transport and makes a number of recommendations to regional Governments regarding regional cooperation, the establishment of a fair and open air transport market, the coordination of air traffic control, the use of information and communications technology, environmental protection and the removal of procedural barriers to trade and transport. |

Technical Advisory Group on Demographic and Social Statistics |
The main goal of establishing of a Technical Advisory Group (TAG) is to provide recommendations on strategies, as well as substantive and methodological guidelines for achieving goals in the area of population and social statistics. METAC-ESCWA Workshop on Asymmetries in Bilateral Remittance Data, CBJ |
The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and the Middle East Regional Technical Assistance Center (METAC) are organizing a workshop for balance of payments compilers of METAC and Gulf countries, specifically dedicated to the compilation of workers remittances. The workshop will be hosted by the Central Bank of Jordan, in Amman, on April 24–25, 2013 and it will be conducted in English with Arabic interpretation.
