Through enhancing education opportunities for different social classes, countries managed to limit the gaps in school enrolment rates for both sexes, as well as between large and small cities and urban and rural areas.

11 December 2014	AlDafa Visits Hariri’s Tomb Tomorrow Tribute to the Man who Brought ESCWA Back to Beirut	On the occasion of the 35th Anniversary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), the UN Under-Secretary-General and ESCWA Executive Secretary Bader AlDafa visits the tomb of late Prime Minister Rafic Hariri tomorrow Tuesday, 21 July 2009, at 11:30 AM. The visit is a tribute to the man who brought ESCWA’s headquarters back to Beirut, its official and permanent seat. The UN Information Service kindly requests news media to grant this visit the highlight it deserves.

20 April 2021	Series of Webinars on selected SDG Indicators for the Arab Region: ESCWA SDG1.2.2	The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN ESCWA ), in collaboration with UN Agencies, custodians of SDG indicators, is organizing a series of webinars on selected SDG indicators that are less produced in the Arab region to create a common understanding among data producers on how to collect, measure and disseminate SDG indicators to increase data production and enhance national data flow to policy makers, other users and custodian agencies. The workshop will cover topics such as: integrating a gender perspective into official statistics; presenting, disseminating and communicating gender statistics; and improving gender statistics literacy among data users.
