5 December 2014	Sub Regional Consultation on Labour Intensive Work Programmes as a Tool for Extending Social Protection	In the framework of its current focus on extending social protection in Arab countries, the Social Policy Section in ESCWA's Social Development Division, in cooperation with the ILO, is organizing a workshop on labour intensive work programmes for practitioners across the region. The workshop will be held at the Ministère de l’Investissement et de la Coopération Internationale in Tunisia from 25 to 26 September 2013.

Also invited to participate in the meeting are respresentatives from the Arab Women Organization (AWO), The League of Arab States (LAS), and Centre for Arab Women for Training and Research (CAWTAR)
6 April 2017	Technical Cooperation between ESCWA and Morocco	ESCWA, represented by its Deputy Executive Secretary for Programme Support Khawla Mattar, signed on 16 March 2017 a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Moroccan Ministry of General Affairs and Governance, represented by Minister Mohamad Al-Wafa. The MoU aims to provide a framework for inter-institutional dialogue and cooperation on matters of common interest in the fields of sustainable development over the period 2017-2019.

25 April 2019	Assessing the impacts of changing water availability on agricultural production in selected Arab countries	The Arab region is one of the world's most arid regions. They are subject to significant changes in rainfall rates from year to year, which is clearly reflected in the scarcity of water resources. Scientific research confirmed that the whole region will be exposed to severe climate changes, either from low rainfall or from high temperatures and a clear increase in the frequency of cycles of drought. These factors adversely affect agricultural productivity for rainfed and, to some extent, irrigated crops.

It is widely accepted that AI is the engine of productivity and economic growth, however, some predict it will have a disruptive effect on society due to the shift in the jobs market and the societal implications of the disruptive technology on equality, education, and other social dimensions. For the national AI strategy, a guide is suggested for Arab countries based on international best practices, regional context, and UN AI for good values.

However, those countries are facing diverse challenges, are endowed with different capacities to address them and are striving to reconcile diverse needs across all parts of society against scarce resources.
