The EGM will be in collaboration with UNIFEM Arab Regional Office and will be attended by
experts from National machineries as well as experts from the region on gender mainstreaming. Also invited to participate in the meeting are respresentatives from the Arab Women Organization (AWO), The League of Arab States (LAS), and Centre for Arab Women for Training and Research (CAWTAR)

The objectvie of the expert group meeting is mainly to review and fine- tune two papers prepared by ESCWA for improving the performance of national machineries in gender mainstreaming before they are sent to the Arab member states for implementation.:

(1) Guidelines for Improving the Effectiveness of National Machineries for Gender Mainstreaming.
(2) Fact Sheets for gender mainstreaming on Trade, Water and Environment issues.
