This issue presents data and statistical indicators on external trade in goods of ESCWA member countries. Data are presented in time series until 2008 and were drawn primarily from national sources, as well as from secondary sources where appropriate. ESCWA hopes that this issue of the External Trade Bulletin, which provides total and detailed data on intraregional and international trade of member countries, would be useful to policymakers, analysts and researchers and other users at the national, regional and international levels. This issue comprises three parts. |

Bulletin on Population and Vital Statistics in the ESCWA Region, No. 11 |
This issue disseminates population census data and comparable national data on registered vital events in the ESCWA region, with complementary analysis. To optimize accuracy, data have been checked for consistency against national, regional and international sources and for comparability purposes, rates have been computed using the World Population Prospects: The 2006 Revision prepared by the United Nations Population Division. |

Regional Commission Honors Arab Women Voices |
On the occasion of International Women's Day, ESCWA honored Arab women voices: singer and poet Jaheda Wehbe, Palestinian-American poet and scholar Lisa Suhair Majaj and Palestinian-Lebanese filmmaker Carole Mansour. Held in cooperation with the Resource Center for Gender Equality (ABAAD) and under the title "Voices of Arab Women," on 5 March 2015 at the UN House, Beirut, the ceremony saw the participation of Second Vice Chair of the National Commission for Lebanese Women Lama Tammam Salam, and Lebanese Minister of Displaced Persons Alice Chabtini. |

Executive Secretary Discusses with Former Prime Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina Combating Violent Extremism |
“Violent extremism walks in when shared society withdraws,” today said former Prime Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina and member of “Club de Madrid” Zlatko Lagumdzija, who paid a visit to the UN House in Beirut, and met with Under-Secretary-General and ESCWA Executive Secretary Mohamed Ali Alhakim. The meeting was attended by ESCWA Deputy Executive Khawla Mattar and Director of ESCWA Emerging and Conflict-related Issues Division Tarek Alami as well as “Club de Madrid” Senior Program Officer Maram Anbar. |

Evaluation |
THE EVALUATION FUNCTION The Strategy, Planning, Accountability, Results and Knowledge Section (SPARK) implements the ESCWA Evaluation Policy and reports to the Deputy Executive Secretary, who in turn reports to the Executive Secretary. A report summarizing key evaluations, plans and recommendations for future action is presented to ESCWA’s inter-governmental Ministerial Commission at its biennial session.

National Training Workshop to Benefit from the Lebanese Experience in Human Development |
In cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) in Lebanon and the Institute for Women's Studies in the Arab World/Lebanese American University (LAU), ESCWA will organize a "National Training Workshop to Benefit from the Lebanese Experience in Human Development" during 6-12 August 2007 in Istanbul, Turkey. |
