The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA), in partnership with UN-Women HQ, is organizing a regional workshop on “Institutionalizing Gender at the Organizational Level”.
 
This workshop is being held in response to recommendation 4 (e) emanating from the 7th session of the Committee on Women on “work with national women’s machineries on implementing the project to mainstream gender in public institutions. The workshop aims to review the “United Nations System-Wide Action Plan on Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women (UN-SWAP)” and to adapt it to the Arab regional context. Based on the outcome of the workshop, the UN-SWAP will be amended and an Arab framework to measure progress towards achieving gender equality in public institutions will be developed. The framework will later be tested at both the levels of national women machineries and governmental institutions.
