Within the joint cooperation framework between the Union of Arab Banks (UAB) and ESCWA/ICT Division, the Arab Forum on the ICT Sector was held in the city of Hammamet in Tunisia from 7 to 10 May 2013, under the patronage and with the participation of the Minister of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), H.E. Mr. Mongi Marzoug. 

Under the title of “Equitable Cities”, the expert group meeting (EGM) on “Urban Governance and the Millennium Development Goals: Towards Implementing MDGs' Target 11”, was inaugurated today 10 December in Kuwait. The meeting is held by UN-ESCWA (The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia), in cooperation with the Kuwaiti Office of the Minister of State for Municipality Affairs, Arab Towns Organization (ATO), and the League of Arab States (LAS), from 10 to 12 December 2007, at the ATO headquarters in Kuwait City.

“The international community should not only support Palestine in meeting its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) commitments, but must also commit to supporting the Palestinian people in their struggle for their inalienable rights. The Palestinians, deserve, like everyone else, to live in dignity and peace. They deserve to be free in their own state. And it is our moral duty to help them achieve that noble goal. For as Martin Luther King said 'Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere'.”

Amman, 10 December 2019 – A new report that the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) launched today, observes that women and girls have benefited from reforms affecting core aspects of their lives as specific provisions within penal, labour, family and nationality codes have been revised and updated, in some Arab countries over the past decade.
