Measuring and Monitoring the Living Conditions in Palestine |
On 14 April 2015, ESCWA signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) at the UN House in Beirut on the implementation of a survey to assess the impact of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza strip in 2014, and the socioeconomic living conditions of Palestinian households in the West Bank and the Gaza strip. |

Arab Dignitaries and Senior Officials Take Part in ESCWA 28th Ministerial Session |
On 17 September 2014, Arab ministers and senior regional and foreign officials took part today in the opening of the 28th ministerial session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), a key regional event hosted by the Tunisian government, and held under the patronage of the President of the Republic, Mr. Moncef Al Marzouki. In the opening session, Arab and foreign diplomats and senior officials listened to statements that echoed Arab concerns and aspirations towards a better tomorrow guided by social justice. |

The United Nations five Regional Commissions (ECA, ECE, ECLAC, ESCAP and ESCWA) conducted, in 2019, the third Global Survey on Digital and Sustainable Trade Facilitation (formerly the Global Survey on Trade Facilitation and Paperless Trade Implementation) to collect relevant data and information from their respective Member States on the implementation of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement and other related measures. |

ESCWA condemns Israeli actions in Gaza |
Beirut, 17 May 2018 (Communication and Information Unit)--The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) condemns the killing of 61 Palestinians, including 6 children, by Israeli forces on 14 May 2018 during a demonstration at the border fence in Gaza. The apparent disproportionate use of force, namely the use of live ammunition against unarmed demonstrators, constitutes another violation of international humanitarian law and a disregard for human life and dignity on the part of the Israeli military. |
