Under the auspices of Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri, ESCWA and the Lebanese National Council for Scientific Research (NCRS), in cooperation with the Ministry of State for Administrative Reform, organized a workshop on National Technology Transfer System, on 23 February 2017, at Grand Serail, Beirut.

The workshop is part of the regional ESCWA project on setting up  national technology transfer systems in five Arab countries members of ESCWA, namely Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman and Tunisia.

In a press conference that gathered the board members of the Association of Lebanese Industrialists (ALI), ESCWA officials, and representatives from media institutions, ESCWA and ALI launched on 27 June 2013 the “Green Production Help Desk (GHD)” project, which provides information and technical advisory services for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to comply with the objectives and principles of sustainable development.

Since the dawn of time, human beings have endeavoured to improve their reality through wars and peace, negotiations and plans. Their goal has always been a thriving present and a prosperous future.

On this arduous path, which has been hampered by a transboundary virus, language has been invaluable: an accurate and sincere reference, and an intellectual and expressive tool.

Language reminds, warns, awakens and saves.

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) flows to the ESCWA region dropped by 15 per cent between 2009 and 2010, settling on 57 billion USD from the former 67 billion USD. Save for Oman and Lebanon, this drop affected all ESCWA countries.
