ETC is organizing a workshop in cooperation with Arab Industrial Development and Mining Organization in Cairo –Egypt on 7 May 2018, this workshop will be a side event if the Arab International Industrial Conference that will be held on 6-8 May 2018. The aim of this workshop is to discuss the problems facing the Arab industry in light of the challenges facing scientific research, which suffers from difficulties in funding as well as from the interaction of the private sector and investors with the scientific research.

The workshop on “Water – Energy Nexus: Technology Transfer” targets to strengthen the capacity of ESCWA’ member countries (MCs) in terms of enhancing their ability to achieve an integrated and sustainable management of water and energy resources thereby contributing to realize sustainable development goals 2030 at national level.
It will assist in improving the technical capacity of government officials who manage or oversee the provision of water or energy services in ESCWA’ MCs through availing comprehensive data on the technological options that could be undertaken to adopt suitable decisions to achieve water-energy nexus approach into their operations, activities and projects.

Accelerating the benefits of frontier technologies in local and regional development while limiting their negative impact, notably on security and employment.

UNESCWA Executive Secretary Mervat Tallawy and a number of UN agency representatives will be visiting the South of Lebanon on Thursday 12 October 2006. The delegation will also include representatives from donor organizations such as the Union of Arab Banks as well as a number of UNESCWA senior staff and experts.
During her visit, Tallawy is expected to reveal the nature of the assistance that UNESCWA will be providing to the South in the next stage.
