ESCWA has recently contributed to an international forum, which gathered high-level delegations and leading energy experts to explore how to drive change; how to drive the need for regional cooperation and planning, and the imperative of nexus solutions as part of implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

This technical meeting seeks to bring together a small group of professionals to discuss conceptual and technical issues associated with the assessment of vital registration processes and data for Syrian refugees in Jordan and Lebanon. The purpose of this meeting is to identify conceptual/definitional issues and measurement challenges associated with vital registration assessment of the Syrian refugee population in Jordan and Lebanon, and to develop a modest plan for initial pilot testing of different large-scale data collection approaches.

– In collaboration with the UN Statistics Department, (UNSD), UN-ESCWA (Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia) is organizing a workshop on “Data Compilation and Application of Methodological Concepts”, at the Radisson SAS Hotel, Amman, Jordan between 28 October and 2 November 2007. The workshop, which will open on Sunday 28 October at 09:00 am, is geared towards updating the capabilities of officers in the implementation of the concepts and definitions in collecting, processing and disseminating international merchandize trade statistics.
