A Model with Heterogeneous Agents to Study Pension Reforms: A Theoretical Presentation and Application using Tunisian data |
ESCWA developed a quantitative model and tool to assess the viability of pension systems and applied Tunisian data as a case study. The model results for Tunisia reveal that pension reforms have differentiated impacts in terms of growth, fiscal sustainability and intergenerational distribution. The user-friendly interface developed for the model allows policy makers to easily simulate any combination of reforms and observe their fiscal and economic effect on the country. The model and interface can be customized and applied to UNESWA member countries. |

Domestic Violence (DV) is a pervasive problem worldwide. It is a human rights violation and public health issue with a significant economic impact on individuals, the community and the wider society. Governments need to respond to this problem following a comprehensive approach taking into consideration the full spectrum of measures to address DV. Estimating the costs of DV to society as a whole can be a powerful tool in directing this response. |

This paper estimates the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on income poverty and the cost of poverty eradication in 14 non-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Arab countries, based on most recent economic growth forecasts provided by the United Nations World Economic Forecasting Model (WEFM), using grouped household income and expenditure survey data.
