8 April 2019	Regional training workshop on “Reforming and Restructuring the Electricity Sector”	The workshop aims at building the national capacity in the technical, financial and legal fields related to the reforming and restructuring of the electricity sector. Besides, increasing the capability to road a map for sector reform, based on the Egyptian experience in the following areas: Sector restructuring, including analysis of strengths, weaknesses, challenges and opportunities as well as appropriate legislations, The institutional framework of the Electricity Regulatory Agency, in terms of competences, tasks, working mechanisms, relations with concerned Government agencies and the private sector, including licenses for electricity production, energy pricing, accounting and auditing, Economic operation of the sector in terms of improving performance, reducing energy losses, rationalizing consumption, developing technical capabilities, improving customer services, supporting public-private partnerships, enhancing good coordination among relevant sector institutions, Automatic Control Center and the reginal electrical interconnection.

12 August 2015	ESCWA Supports Kuwait for New Groundwater Research Project	Within the framework of advisory services provided by ESCWA to member countries, the Commission contributed with the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) in the preparation and finalization of the concept note and project proposal for a new groundwater research project. This project aims at enhancing the knowledge and skills of stakeholders in the water sector to formulate policies, implement programmes and develop institutional frameworks aimed at promoting integrated management of water resources.

It examines myriad opportunities for improving gender equality offered by ICTs and covers possible risks.
11 December 2014	ESCWA Holds Eleventh Session for Transport Committee Under the Auspices of Lebanese Minister of Transport	ESCWA is convening the 11th session of its transport committee on Monday 22 March 2010 at the UN House, Beirut, to facilitate trade and transport and achieve regional integration. The session is held under the auspices of Lebanese Minister of Transport Ghazi Aridi. The Session will be inaugurated at 10:00 AM, and continue until Wednesday 24 March. Opening statements will be delivered by Aridi or his representative, ESCWA Executive Secretary Bader AlDafa, and Palestine representative Mahmoud Khaled, in his capacity as the former chairperson of the session.

11 August 2015	Change Management in Public Sector Reform in Iraq	On 28th April 2015 the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) concluded its capacity development workshop entitled “Change Management in Public Sector Reform” held in Istanbul, Turkey. Attended by 12 participants from the National Center for Management Development and Information Technology (NCMDIT) in Baghdad and 7 from the Kurdistan Institute for Public Administration (KIPA), the workshop discussed strategic needs of change management in support of the ongoing public sector reform in Iraq.
23 June 2019	In Morocco, Executive Secretary and senior officials reaffirm mutual cooperation	Beirut-Rabat, 18 June 2019 (ESCWA)--During her visit to the Kingdom of Morocco last week, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of ESCWA Rola Dashti met with the Prime Minister, Mr. Saadeddine Al Othmani and other senior officials separately. Dashti reaffirmed the readiness of ESCWA to support Morocco in addressing socio-economic challenges, and to achieve a well-balanced development vision that leaves no one behind.
27 September 2018	Workshop on Environment Statistics and Information for Sustainable Development in the Arab Region (UNSD UNESCWA UNEP and EEA)	The Workshop will focus on, inter alia, building national capacities for the implementation of the Framework for Development of Environment Statistics FDES 2013 which was endorsed by the United Nations Statistical Commission at its forty-fourth session in 2013 as the framework for strengthening environment statistics programmes in countries. The Workshop will also provide training on selected topics of environment statistics, in particular on waste and water statistics, as well on environmentally-related SDG indicators and climate change statistics.
