15 November 2017	ESCWA offsets all of its emissions for the first time, becoming Climate Neutral	According to the latest edition of Greening the Blue, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) has joined a number of UN entities in achieving climate neutrality for 2016. “ESCWA has an emissions reduction strategy in place and will soon work on establishing its Environmental Management System as well,” said Mohamed Ali Alhakim, Executive Secretary of the Regional Commission.
11 December 2014	UN-ESCWA High-Level Meeting to Promote Water Supply and Sanitation Policies	In cooperation with the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) and in partnership with the League of Arab States (LAS), UN-ESCWA is holding a high level meeting to “Promote Water Supply and Sanitation Policies and Related Organizational Reforms in Western Asia”, on 15 June 2008 at the LAS Headquarters, Cairo, Egypt. The meeting will coincide with the second day sessions of the LAS Ministerial Meeting of Arab Ministers responsible for water resources.

The publications include policy recommendations aimed at enhancing the capacity of policymakers in countries experiencing conflict to develop appropriate strategies and programs for the achievement of social and economic development goals in the region.
