ESCWA soft launches innovative, bilingual data portal at global forum in Dubai |
While over 2,000 data experts from more than 100 countries gathered at the United Nations World Data Forum 2018 in Dubai from 22 to 24 October to advance new data solutions, the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) soft launched an innovative data portal to facilitate public access to useful data on the Arab region, a crucial step to enable change and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). |

Committee on Water Resources Holds 10th Session, Discusses Regional Water Cooperation |
In light of the challenges and obstacles confronting the Arab region in the area of integrated water resources management, and since the General Assembly of the United Nations has declared 2013 as the International Year for Water Cooperation, ESCWA convenes the 10th session of its Committee on Water Resources on 20-22 March under the theme “Regional Water Cooperation” at the UN House, Beirut. Participants will include representatives of ESCWA Member Countries, and from relevant international and regional organizations and institutions, and civil society organizations. |

Arab Parliaments Dialogue on the Regional Review of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration in the Arab Region |
The Global Compact for Migration promotes broad multi-stakeholder partnerships to address migration in all its dimensions by including migrants, diasporas, local communities, civil society, academia, the private sector, parliamentarians, trade unions, national human rights institutions, the media and other relevant stakeholders in migration governance. It underscores the role of parliamentarians in implementing the Global Compact and to conduct regular and inclusive reviews of progress at the national level. |
