11 December 2014	Stand to Mourn the Deaths of Innocent Civilians and Fellow Staff Members	On 7 August 2014 The ESCWA Staff Council convened in front of the United Nations House in Beirut a stand to protest the deaths of innocent civilians and of fellow staff members in Gaza. The UN flag flew at half mast in front of the UN House.

11 December 2014	Ministerial Session Discusses Economic Policies in Support of Social Justice	The second panel of the 28th ministerial session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) convened this afternoon to discuss the topic “Economic policies in support of social justice”, examining the connections between economics and social justice, and the impact of various economic and fiscal policies on social and economic development from an equity and justice perspective.

30 March 2020	Using Internet Self-Enumeration in Population and Housing Censuses: Challenges, Opportunities and Best Practices	The paper examines the development of smart applications to collect data using most of the devices used for the Internet, such as a laptop, tablets, smart phones, etc., through the contact and communication strategy for a successful use of those methods. The paper also addresses the importance to have available electronic methods for data protection by encrypting and protecting the data before sending it to a central database. Moreover, the paper concluded with a series of recommendations, the most important of which is that the use of this method to be incorporated in the census implementation methodology based on multiple sources of data. Finally, this paper is expected to contribute in assisting the Arab countries in making decisions regarding the use of the Internet in collecting census data.
11 December 2014	ESCWA Holds Eleventh Session for Transport Committee Under the Auspices of Lebanese Minister of Transport	ESCWA is convening the 11th session of its transport committee on Monday 22 March 2010 at the UN House, Beirut, to facilitate trade and transport and achieve regional integration. The session is held under the auspices of Lebanese Minister of Transport Ghazi Aridi. The Session will be inaugurated at 10:00 AM, and continue until Wednesday 24 March. Opening statements will be delivered by Aridi or his representative, ESCWA Executive Secretary Bader AlDafa, and Palestine representative Mahmoud Khaled, in his capacity as the former chairperson of the session.
11 December 2014	ESCWA Launches Three E-Fora On Social Participatory Development	Beirut, 30 June 2010 (UN Information Service)-- The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is launching as of 1 July three electronic fora, as part of the portal called “Towards an inclusive Participatory Development in the ESCWA region”, to achieve social integration and promote the participation of civil society and media in social development.
11 December 2014	Science, Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Development to be Discussed in Regional Meeting Hosted by ESCWA	The Amman based ESCWA Technology Centre will host the Regional Preparatory Meeting for Western Asia in support of the 2013 Annual Ministerial Review (AMR) of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) under the theme: “Science, Technology and Innovation, and the Potential of Culture, for Promoting Sustainable Development and Achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs),” on 26 November 2012 from 1:30-5:15, at El-Hassan Science City, Hashemite Auditorium.

17 November 2016	ESCWA Highlights Regional Implementation of 2030 Agenda on Climate Action	On 15 November 2016, ESCWA took part in a joint United Nations regional commissions roundtable held on the sidelines of the twenty-second session of the annual Conference of the Parties (COP 22), the supreme decision-making body of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change taking place in Marrakech, Morocco between 7 and 18 November 2016.
