5 December 2014	Consultation meeting on Migrant Women Workers	The ESCWA Regional Adviser on Advancement and Empowerment of women is participating in UNIFEM Arab States consultation meeting that will take place in New Delhi on August 25th aiming at developing a third phase program on Migrant Women Workers, being a focus area in the Beijing Platform for Action. The consultative meeting intends as well to develop a program document regarding the subject that will be implemented within ESCWA.
5 December 2014	Ten years anniversary of Security Council Resolution 1325 on women, peace and security	On 31 October 2000, the United Nations Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 1325 on women, peace and security. The resolution highlights the role of women in conflict resolution and peace building, urges member states to provide adequate protection for women and girls in conflict situations and increase the representation of women in conflict resolution and peace building activities. It was an important step in emphasizing the gender dimension of conflict, conflict resolution and peace building.
