The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is organizing an expert group meeting (EGM) on “The Implications of the Syrian Crisis on the Economies of Jordan and Lebanon” on Thursday, the 4th of July 2013 at its headquarters, Riad El Solh Square, Beirut. The meeting will be held with the participation of Jordanian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Ibrahim Saif and Lebanese Minister of Economy and Trade Nicholas Nahas.



Results-Based Management

As part of the Secretary-General’s drive to focus on results-based management, emphasizing results over output and thereby aiming to enhance transparency and programme delivery, ESCWA has adopted the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle.

Plan -  refers to the setting of a strategic vision and operational frameworks

Do - represents the implementation of the annual strategy through work plans, which include ongoing performance monitoring

Beirut, 31 August 2018 (Communication and Information Unit)-- The circumstances of persons with disabilities living in institutions in the Arab region and the urgency of ensuring their access to adequate support and services was the focus of a recent expert meeting organised by the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA).
 



          Beirut, 18 September 2017 (Communication and Information Unit) -- United Nations Under-Secretary-General and ESCWA Executive Secretary Mohamed Ali Al-Hakim is attending the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly and participating in high-level activities organized on its sidelines from 18 to 24 September 2017. The Executive Secretary is also attending the general debates that start on Tuesday 19 September 2017.
