Within the framework of the Oman Water Week organized by UN-ESCWA (United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia) and the Ministry of Regional Municipalities, Environment and Water Resources, Muscat will host two major events, namely: the Expert Group Meeting (EGM) on National Institutional Reforms for the Implementation of Integrated Water Resources Management (18-20 March 2007) and the Seventh Session of the UN-ESCWA Committee on Water Resources (20-22 March 2007) at the Muscat Holiday Hotel.

The Regional Workshop on the Exchange of Experiences on the Collection and Dissemination of Road and Railway Transport Statistics: Statistics on The Volume of Road Traffic (Vehicle-Kilometer) is to be to be convened during 8- 10 December 2020. The regional workshop will be convened virtually.

Lebanese House Speaker Nabih Berri today praised the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UNESCWA), Ms. Mervat Tallawy, for having provided her effort in promoting regional integration and helping consolidate stability in Lebanon through continued support by UNESCWA. He also pointed out that Tallawy was the first Executive Secretary of UNESCWA who headed to South Lebanon with a field project aimed at promoting Technology and who provided efforts in Lebanon receiving the UN reconstruction award in 2004.

ESCWA 29th Session opened this afternoon at the ministerial level, in Doha, Qatar, with speeches highlighting the need to work for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, particularly amid the current state of the Arab region.
